omigoodness, we're so exciterpated about our new design that we can hardly stand it! for the redesign, simplicity was our starting theme. we didn't want a fussy design, or at least, the design shouldn't look fussy. no matter how much the coding fought us. and fight us, it did! oh man, it put up a good fight, but we're better code monkies than we give ourselves credit for. it took a couple days, but we beat that coding into submission!
we went for a simple colorblock layout. we had to have our big stripe-y liner bar in there, so that familiar sight is still alive and kicking, just a bit bigger than it used to be. we liked the new site design so much that we redesigned our newletter template to match!
continuing the simplicity theme, our new site is a paypal cart, easy to use for both us and you! it's up and running, so don't hesitate to go get yourself a mascot!

A note about couponing on the new site, we've use a paypal-hosted cart. paypal doesn't accept coupons. we're working on finding a way around that, but until we do, here's how using a coupon will work on the site ::

i'm hoping to get my "spell out kid's names in plush" off the ground soon, and i want to have some names pre-done.

i'm thinking 4 names pre-done.
2 girlie, and 2 boyish.

michael? (probably) john, jacob, robert?

i'd love to have common names from other cultures as well.
i come from a white-bread anglo-saxon culture in the midwest of america.

i'm really good at saying i'm going to do something, and then not doing it. ^^;

i've been spending the summer getting all my jewelry stuff into my new site, so the plushies have kind of fallen by the wayside.

on the other hand, the plushies kind of did gangbusters last year at the holidays, so i'm going to be making up for lost time and sewing my fingers to the bone starting (right after lunch) today.

this is all by way of saying that if you want a plushie, you should pick one out now, because i'm making them in groups of 10, so tossing another one on the pile for you won't be a problem at all. ;D

also, keep an eye out for a giveaway i'll be doing soon. if you've got someone who would like their name in plush, you should come back on monday.

i got a cool muffin tin for Midsomer! :D
it's jungle/savanah animals. rhino, lion, giraffe, elephant, hippo, monkey, and a whale and a clown fish thrown in for species representation.

obviously, i did some unusual colors.
though, don't black rhinos actually exist? i thought they did. anyway, that's not the point of this post.
the point of this post is to say :: would you like to test out my chalk? (or would your little ones like to?) yeah? then please leave me a way to contact you in the comments. i'd love to send 1 or 2 (or all) of the chalks pictured to someone/someone's kidlets to play with.

i'm not asking for any dollars, not even shipping, since these are the first ones i made in this shape and they are, by far, not up to snuff. after all, the clownfish isn't as thick as the others, and they all have lots of bubbles showing up.

i'm going to post some close ups of them on the twitters, so if you want a closer look, see the twitter page!

i have discovered.... how to make chalk.
as in, sidewalk chalk.
as in, the stuff you used to write and draw on the ground with when you were little.

and i'm making it in rainbows. of course. :D

because if your chalks aren't a rainbow, yer doin' it wrong. ;D

the chalks are about 1oz each, and come in 6 colors right now. red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and purple. they'll be sold in sets of six for $1O.OO, and will be up for ordering just as soon as i get the packaging in for them. they'll be in clear boxes, possibly wrapped in white tissue (if i discover they need it. they probably won't.), with a bunch of blue and orange ribbon curled and tied on. :D

if you're interested in some chalk, and don't want to wait for the fancy packaging, just let me know. i'd be more than happy to send you some chalk in the mail. :D

how do you feel about sidewalk chalk?

i love it, myself. and i think i'd be fun to make and sell sidewalk chalk.
i'm thinking that, instead of just the regular tube shapes, i might get some candy moulds and maybe some cool-shaped silicon ice cube moulds and have shapes.

i'm thinking... a little bucket of sea shapes to go with an octopus or a whaleshark or a stingray, some flowers to go with a turtle or an elephant... that sort of thing.

pretend like i've been meaning to post here.
because honestly? i just haven't had anything to say (shocking, i know.).

i've always had this problem with blogging or journalling. if i need to say something, i tend to say it to a person, even if that person is myself (all those suprized that yobo talks to herself, please exit now.).

plus, i almost always have my telephone with me, so if there's something i need to talk about, and it needs other people involved, i tweet it (often, i tweet pictures with oblique 1-liners as i jump through the frame).

so from now on, mostly what's going to be here are little semi-random blurbs about which plushies are available, and which ones need to be made, and probably a bit of my research on eventually getting my dream of a storefront studio going.

i even know where i want said studio to go. right next to this upscale kid's boutique in the Short North.
kid's boutique + toys = hells yes good placement, don't you think? ;D
so i'm researching what it takes to own a brick and morter business in Ohio. like, permits, badges, typical costs, etc.

so if you know of any good links, be sure to send them my way, ok? :D
because this is something i really want to do, and i think i could be good at it.

anyway, i hope to start making more regular posts starting now, but we'll see how it goes.
